  1. Mac says:

The picture is, clearly, the village’s novelty blood transfusion center where stars of every persuasion can get the hippest new fads in blood pumped directly into them- colored, flavored, scented, it’s up to you!

The thai rock sensation pictured on the pepsi ad at the top is, of course, the first transfusion-ee.

  2. Susan aka Mom says:

I’m thinking Mac is wrong, his vision colored with his anticipation of Halloween. It is actually a lot less macabre—it is the Thai version of a slushy stand—Thai-ice better known as Thice (?)—the canisters hold various exotic flavors, e.g. custard apple (see Nick, I have read it), durian and crunchy frog–the flavor of the week. The stand is empty because you have to bring your own ice—no easy feat (although easier than a pang of eggs???). The shower caps keep the bugs out and can be used to relieve brain freeze from consuming a slushy.
P.S. A custard apple is related to a soursop, papaw and sweetsop. I know that clears things right up.

  3. not mom aka Diane says:

No, no, no. It is clear that this is a picture of a hair dressing salon with the bottles of Clairol hair coloring set up ready for the next willing American customer. That’s what the caps are for. The local hair fad is a color tinting popular with the locals. Some call it the “Cindy Lauper special” but Americans simply refer to it as a “Thai dye”.

  4. Jess says:

    Gusher’s plant.
Now we know how they get the gushy liquid goodness inside that seemingly impenetrable gummy shell.
I hope the prize is custard apple flavored Gushers.

  5. me says:

Wow, i cannot decide what is worse, the wildly creative, yet even more wildly wrong guesses above, or the completely unnacceptably low number of responses. All of you who didn’t even try, I’m not mad, just dissapointed in you. I expect more. And you know who you are.

That being said, the answer to the contest is Gasolene. The picture is of a gas station. So, im not sure who to credit with the victory. Here is my thinking….

blood is the human form of gas, which could be what Mac was getting at.

On the other hand, a gushers plant sounds like either an obstacle on Double Dare or the destination of a prize trip from Legends of the Hidden Temple(way better than space camp)–two shows, which, incidentally, are aired on Nickalodeon GAS–which makes Jess’s answer seem truly inspired.

The jury is still out, but have no fear, a new contest will be going up real soon, and lets just say you should blow the dust off of your old Southeast Asian Botany text book.
